Percy is a 15.2 hh, stocky built, gray Paint gelding born in 1998. He was part of a Humane Society seizure a few years ago, was adopted and returned to the rescue due to divorce. Adopted again, but his newest home was not able to manage his increasing arthritic needs. So, he is back for another try for his forever home!   He has been a great pet and was lightly trail ridden english and western. He is not spooky, will go out alone or with others. He has no vices or special health needs. He does have evidence of arthritis in all four of his legs, but is not unsound for light riding. Percy’s biggest challenge is standing to get his feet trimmed.  It is uncomfortable for him and he needs support to balance quietly!  He will need a firm but understanding owner and farrier to keep him comfortable, as well as some maintenance for arthritis in his joints.  He is best for trail riding and light pleasure riding only. No jumping or barrel racing for this guy!

*UPDATE* July 2018

Percy had a new wellness exam done and his arthritic needs are being met by starting him on Equioxx, one pill a day.  He should respond well to this and be more comfortable for the farrier.  He had a new riding evaluation as well, at which we found him to need some tune up on manners during saddling and mounting, but he was very willing to be ridden at all gaits.  Suitable for adv beginner and up rider.

*UPDATE* December 2018

Percy has moved to a foster home as a companion for a lonely horse.  He has settled in easily and is loving life being pampered in semi retirement!  He is still available for adoption, please contact us to make an appointment to meet him in his foster home.

Due to his advanced arthritis, Percy is adoptable as a companion only horse.  He is comfortable getting around in the pasture with minimal maintenance, but he does have issues standing for the farrier on 3 legs.  He could likely give pony rides without a problem, but please do not expect Percy to be trail ridden regularly or at more than a walk.
