Biggie
Biggie is a handsome guy with a sensitive soul! He was a war horse on the racetrack, sound and successful until his retirement at 9 years old. He was a resident of Squirrelwood Equine Sanctuary where he was retrained in the basics of dressage and pampered as a pet. He has not been ridden for almost 5 years as no fault of his own, just the priorities of the sanctuary were not in riding. Since coming to BAHR, he has been slowly evaluated for coming back to being ridden and still has some room to grow. He will require a gentle and sensitive rider and will be suitable for flat disciplines only, no jumping.
Biggie is blind in one eye. He had a pasture accident years ago resulting in a detached retina. It does not cause him any pain and requires no maintenance. He has developed cataracts in the eye, however, and has started developing in the other eye as well. At this time we do not believe it effects the vision in the good eye, but it could progress in the future. Biggie is sensitive and does not enjoy braving the elements, whether that means bugs and sun, rain and wind, or snow, he will tell you he wants to be in his stall by weaving at the gate. He will also weave some in his stall if he is ready to go out.
If you are looking for a loving horse to pamper and play in the dressage ring, Biggie could be the guy for you!
