Reya is a 4 year old, 15.3 hh Friesian/ Standardbred mare. She suffered a catastrophic injury to her hoof as a youngster and it was never treated.  As a result, one hoof is severely damaged, including bone loss, internal and external abnormality. Because she was non weight bearing for so long and during her formative years, the opposite leg supported all her weight and now arthritis has formed in her joints.  In spite of all this, Reya is pasture sound!  She runs and plays as any young horse would.  She should never be asked to ride or drive, but has a great quality of life as a pasture pet and companion.  She has a wonderful disposition, is kind and loving, adores to be groomed. Reya does require a farrier skilled in corrective trimming, as the damaged hoof requires more than the usual routine care.  We have also started her on Adequan treatments to proactively treat her arthritis and maintain the current level of comfort for as many years as possible.

Reya is eligible to be a foster candidate, as well as being available for adoption.  ADOPTION FEE: $400.
